German Expressionism

German expressionism in early twentieth century movement that emphasized the artist's inner feelings or ideas over replicating reality. German expressionism films were characterized by heavy and creepy shadows, strange asymmetrical camera angles, atmospheric lighting and harsh contrasts between dark and light. One of the most famous films of German Expressionism is "Nosferatu" the adaptation of the Novel by Bram Stoker's 1897 novel Dracula.
