Mission goal: Create a series of images of people playing musical instruments featuring one person or group captured from various angles and perspectives.
Deliverables:
- 500 - 1000 images per Mission submission featuring the same person or group.
- Model and property releases are required for this Mission. For each specific image or video clip, attach a model release for each of the individuals featured.
- Keywording, metadata, and retouching are not required for this Mission.
- Submissions must NOT already be available on Adobe Stock; otherwise, they will be rejected.
- Generative AI content is not accepted.
Additional content:
- Submit up to 5 Missions. Each submission should feature different people, locations, and/or musical instruments. If using the same people, their appearance must be significantly different, this can be achieved with a change of wardrobe and/or location.
- Each approved submission of 500-1000 images will receive the payment amount displayed in the Contributor Portal with the potential to earn up to 5 times the base payment.
- You can submit images from your archive. For example, you can mix multiple series from past shoots into a single Mission submission to meet the 500-1000 image requirement.
Submission deadline: November 15th, at 6:00PM CET.
Mission review and payment: Submissions may take up to 15 business days to be reviewed and processed.
Mission guidance: Each Mission submission should capture one person or group engaging with a musical instrument in authentic, candid moments without looking directly at the camera or appearing overly posed. We are open to all types of instruments, including those tied to regional customs or cultural traditions.
*All musical instruments featured must be non-branded and free from intellectual property issues. You can cover up logos or brand names with tape to avoid IP issues and prevent your submission from being rejected.
Storytelling: The goal is to create images that show a musician’s connection to their instrument from various angles, capturing settings like solo practice, performances, or group playing. These images should highlight their journey from preparation to performance, including moments of focus or teamwork.
Solo musicians
- Show a range of emotions—focus, joy, calm, and passion—throughout the series of images.
Groups or ensembles
- Feature small or large groups of people playing instruments together. This could range from an informal band practice to a formal concert setting.
- Capture moments of collaboration, communication, and interaction between musicians.
Crop and perspective: Using a variety of angles and perspectives is important for enhancing the narrative and visual storytelling in your submission. Leverage focal length, angles, heights, and camera-to-subject distance to your advantage to produce the most diverse dataset possible per submission.
- Wide shots: Show the full setting, like a living room, street corner, or concert stage.
- Close-ups: Focus on details like hands on strings, tapping feet, or facial expressions.
- Over-the-shoulder shots: Give a view from the musician’s perspective.
Casting: We encourage diversity across age, race, ethnicity, culture, body type, gender identity, sexual orientation, and physical abilities.
Note: Subjects should remain the same throughout each submission to maintain narrative cohesion and should capture a range of emotions, environments, and interactions.
Wardrobe: Photograph your subjects wearing different clothing within each submission to maximize dataset variety. Ensure the clothing does not contain brand names, pictures, or logos.
Location: Photos can be taken indoors or outdoors in a variety of realistic locations like homes, studios, or outdoor spaces where playing an instrument naturally occurs. It’s okay to reuse locations but try to capture them at different times of day for variety. Be mindful of potential intellectual property (IP) issues, such as logos, brand names, and advertisements on walls or buildings.
Lighting: Experiment with both natural or artificial lighting to enhance storytelling, create depth and variety in your images.
Preparing your images for upload:
1. Make your selects: Avoid submitting near duplicates and similar content. It’s okay to include a limited number of series from the same scene, but only to a point. Missions with content that is too similar and repetitive will be rejected. Remember, your submission should tell a story.
2. Title your Mission submission: Provide a brief title and description that clearly outlines the subject(s) and the musical instrument they are playing. The description should highlight your submission's key subjects, activities, and environments.

3. Ensure your content meets all image compliance requirements:
Model and property release: Images must have proper releases and consent. Images with recognizable depictions of individuals and/or protected properties must be submitted with written and valid model or property releases.
Commercial use: Images must be cleared for commercial use and may not contain intellectual property (IP), trademarked designs, brand logos, brand-associated patterns, or works belonging to third parties.
No offensive images: We do not allow mature, abusive, or illegal images. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:
- Nudity
- Profanity (including hand gestures)
- Sexually suggestive content or pornographic material
- Depictions of minors in a sexual manner
- Hateful or highly offensive content that attacks or dehumanizes a group based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, serious disease or disability, gender, age, or sexual orientation
- No weapons, graphic violence, or gore
- Illegal activities or goods
- Self-harm or the promotion of self-harm
- Promotion of terrorism or violent extremism
- Dissemination of misleading, fraudulent, or deceptive content that could lead to real-world harm
