Celebrating Chinese New Year
We are celebrating Chinese New Year here at Scopio with our Chinese photographers! I wish a Happy New Year to all of our Chinese contributors and community members who brought us so much understanding of Chinese culture.
Chinese New Year is held on February 12th and lasts for 16 days, ending on the 27th. We at Scopio aim to receive and share as many images about the festivities as possible and share the joy through our contributors' lenses.
Hanny Hsian is a portrait, street and landscape photographer who has been submitting images about her Chinese culture and life with Scopio and the rest of the world. Elevating her from just another photographer to one that has her work downloaded by thousands from anywhere on Earth.
She mentioned The Red envelope or Red pockets which literally mean “money to anchor the year” also known as “lucky money” or “New Year’s money.” Usually elders give it to children to pass on a year of good fortune. Or married couples give them to their unmarried friends to transfer some luck.
Also, we can all hear Hanny saying Happy New Year in Chinese but none of us here really understood it or knows how to pronounce it, so let me help you with that. It goes like this; Xīn nián kuài lè!
Scopio hopes this year of the Ox brings a lot of blessings to all especially to our Photographers who hopefully will find their path, passion and success with and through our community. Xīn nián kuài lè to ALL! Blessings to sharing culture and art to make the world a more UNDERSTANDING place!
